about to drop at GA

Here’s a shot taken from the Drop Zone at Great America a few years back. It’s one of my favorite rides. I can’t hang w/ the spinning rides any more for some reason. I’m still OK with drops and roller coasters.

This shot is from the Revolution. If you have loose pockets, say bye to your phone, wallet, keys or whatever is in them. The tight pants dudes have nothing to worry about.

iDR & Fatlace: Art Unlimited

Once again, respect to iDR Courtney, WNKK, the contributing artists and Courtney’s friends who helped set up and clean up! It was a mellow night full of good looking art, cool people and excellent music selection. It was fun hanging out with all y’all! Wish we had more time… maybe we should have an after party across the street next time!

There was a constant flow of people through the night.

Venice Side Street

This shot was taken on my first day in Italy at Venice. I heard you can’t really get lost there since you’ll run into water no matter where you go. So, Mara and I just started wandering around. We smelled people cooking dinner (made me hungry!), there were no tourists or any shops. Eventually we found a grocery store, grabbed some food and kept walking.

I dug up the pic to enter it in this contest… who knows.

I had no tripod or a lens w/ image stabilization, just held my breath and took the shot.

Art Unlimited preview pic

There was a cool turnout at the iDR Art Unlimited event. Fresh artwork, good people, dope music and cool vibes all night! Much respect to Courtney, the Wild n Krazy Kids and the rest of her crew. Jason’s bike was on display and so was another one built by Shorty Fatz. I didn’t know he knew Ride SFO’s Phil S… small world. Speaking of small world, my cousin Jeremy was there with the WNKK crew. I finally got to meet Mr. Fongstarr who happens to know more of our friends. 360VM Robby came by for a few, he’s supposed to skate w/ Fongstarr and Philly one of these days. Koi Master Chris G swung through with the rest of the gang. That’s his piece covering the wall by our logo. His art will be showcased in a few weeks. I’ll let you know when all the details are ironed out.

Thanks to everyone who showed up!

Old School Nintendo

I took this shot at a desert shop in Millbrae. Nintendo has gone a long way! Does anyone remember these game and watches? Now we’ve got fresh Nintendo DS/Honeyee/Fragment collabs and Wii’s are still sold out. Amazing how some of the design elements and user interface are the same as today’s.

The meet was definitely good times. A lot of people who appreciated offset and clean rides came through. The day started early at 7AM for the staff and anyone who wanted a good parking spot. It was hot like fire and the overall vibe was cool. Special thanks to Go Kart Racer, all the sponsors and staff for helping make the event happen!

These guys are fellow drifters. Scott hooked up the ice water all day. Thanks man! Mark Checking out the one off bike crafted by Nemesis Project. The paint was still fresh.

Chris G’s Koi on the Fatlace Wall

Chris is the artist who painted sick J Dilla piece live at the Rough Draft fund raiser for Dilla’s mother. We’re honored to have him painting on our wall for the store’s 1 Year Anniversary.

Here’s a snap of the progress.

We even have the J Dilla piece in the back.

2008 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix

The Day started early, woke up at 5:30 and head to Mark’s place. Hopped into Mark’s wagon and proceeded to SJ to pick up Felix. Breakfast is a must for a long day at the race track. Not too much choice, and we ended up at the Burger King. It was empty, except for a suspicious looking lady w/ a duffel bag. Mark ordered first. When I was up, I usually order a breakfast sandwich and I wanted to change it up a little. There was a breakfast burrito on the menu. I asked the cashier “is the breakfast burrito pretty good?” and she replied, “it is egg, salsa, blah, blah…” Excellent answer, if I asked what was in it. She didn’t even try to answer my question. I ordered it anyway. She asked me “here or to go?” and I said… “so how did they order?” and I pointed at Mark and Brooklyn. Then she explained to me what a to go order was vs. eating there. So the safest pick was “to go” so that’s what I went with. When my order was called, it was on a tray. Hilarious! I thought it was entertaining that the cashier didn’t understand a word I said… except for the menu items.

We had to pick up our tickets at Embassy Suites. Good timing since the port-o-lets at racetracks are always below standards, haha. Now I was ready to head to the race. We parked at the dirt parking lot and started walking towards the track. Over the hill we saw thousands of bikes parked along the hill. To get inside the track there are bridges that are always bottlenecks. I felt like cattle. My cousin Toads was playing somewhere in the middle. All I knew was there was a big Hummer and Mojitos. We started to walk clockwise. There were tons of vendors, it felt like the swap meet in Hawaii, but mostly motorcycle related. I’d say the toughest hustle was a booth that sold a “stress lowering” formula made from eight natural plants. They have to convince people to drink a nasty tasting drink and make them buy it? I think the best way to lower stress is to exercise. It’s proven. After walking around the whole place… we found the Hummer.

p1010238.jpg

So I grabbed a Mojito and watched the band play some covers that brought me way back like “What a Bam Bam.”
