Criminal Cop, Patrick Pogan, Loses Badge After Violently Assaulting Bicyclist
Patrick Pogan, a 22-year-old rookie cop, former football offensive lineman and son of a retired NYPD detective, claimed in court documents that 29-year-old Christopher Long of Bloomfield, New Jersey was “forcing multiple vehicles to stop abruptly or change their direction to avoid hitting the defendant.” Pogan also alleged that Long knocked him to the ground after deliberately aiming the bicycle towards him.
If it wasn’t caught on video people would not have believed it,” rider and documentary filmmaker Christopher Ryan added. “The video just shows what the cyclists have been saying all along, that the police are still harassing and intimidating them from doing group rides.”
Long was charged with attempted assault in the third degree, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. He was held for 26 hours.
“The video speaks for itself,” Long’s attorney told Gothamist. Norman Siegel, civil rights attorney and former counsel for enviromental activist group TIME’S UP!, added his opinion that the video footage showed “unacceptable illegal behavior by this particular police officer.”
“I’m proud of my son,” said Patrick Pogan Sr., retired NYPD detective and former Joint Terrorism Task Force member. “He’s a good kid.”
Regardless of what you can’t see the cyclist doing prior to the assult, the officer is obviously using excessive force. A simple, “Hey you, stop” would’ve been enough and I’ll leave it at that. Comments?
Radiohead just released a new video for its song “House of Cards” from the album “In Rainbows”.
No cameras or lights were used. Instead two technologies were used to capture 3D images: Geometric Informatics and Velodyne LIDAR. Geometric Informatics scanning systems produce structured light to capture 3D images at close proximity, while a Velodyne Lidar system that uses multiple lasers is used to capture large environments such as landscapes. In this video, 64 lasers rotating and shooting in a 360 degree radius 900 times per minute produced all the exterior scenes.
Watch the making-of video to learn about how the video was made and the various technologies that were used to capture and render 3D data.

Spending a few days here in New York before we head back to the Bay. It’s herra hot and humid out. Not as humid as people said it was a couple weeks back, but humid enough to make your inner elbows sweat.
This was the scene yesterday at some bar in Tribeca. Aroused Turkish folks and their fans alike cheered as they tied it up 2-2. A minute after this photo was taken Germany scored with less than two minutes left to secure the win. You could hear a pin drop.
It’s great to meet up with the ohana from time to time. Mary and I had dinner with Mike last night. I grew up skating with this guy back in Hawaii where your inner elbows would sweat, too.
Heading over to the cafe in an hour to watch Spain play the underdogs, Russia. K-den.
80-100 kilometer per hour speed limits (50-62 mph) on the highways in Barcelona may sound a bit chill in comparison to our freeways here in the States. Believe me, they still look and feel like freeways. I was passing cyclist dude when he hand signaled the other cars behind him because he was going to ride through an exit. Some cyclists took up entire lanes because of roadside barriers which is absolutely their right of way. Maybe it’s just me, but all I could think of in general was - HO CUZ, GETTING NUTS.
