Commissionde by the advertising agency Nordpol+ Hamburg, Sipho Mabona designed the origami models and consulted the stopmotion aswell as the computer animators of this world wide corperate movie that tells the story of the japanese sports brand ASICS. The movie won a Grand Prix at the Eurobest, gold at the New York festival, gold at the London International Awarts, silver at the Clio in Miami and two times bronze at ADC Germany.
I really enjoyed the Bugs Life section at Disneyland and seeing it from their perspective. The design and layout was top notch. I wonder if the animators and artist of the movie ever thought they would have a section of disneyland. Must be nice and probably thee highlight of their careers.
For the past 2 years we’ve been pulling a fast one on Brooklyn. We convinced her that Disneyland was the Disney Store at Hillsdale Mall in San Mateo. She would tell her friends she went to Disneyland and her friends would just look at her with a strange face. We took her to Disneyworld in Orlando when she was 1 but I don’t think she remembers what it was all about plus we were in the middle of a heatwave so most of the time spent at Disneyworld was indoors where the AC was blasting. If you know me, I’m not a huge fan of the heat. Fast forward to today, Brooklyn’s 3 now and understands almost everything and will correct you if you try to pull a fast one on her. She’s seen the commercials and the one thing she asked for Christmas was to goto Disneyland to “Check it out”. So we decided lets make the most of my mini vacation away from Oregon and go…
No, that’s not a bomb going off at park, it’s their fireworks show right outside of the hotel room. Tomorrow’s gonna be special, there’s a 945 and Midnight Fireworks show. Exciting times and HAPPY NEW YEAR.
Yesterday I spent alot of my time in my garage cleaning out junk that basically sat there for the last year. Most of the junk was there when I got the house but I never had time to clear it out. While sifting through the junk, I located something I thought would only be in my memories from yesteryear. My first Mixer. I went to Radio Shack the day after we graduated from 8th grade and picked up this Realistic Mixer and 2 Technique belt driven turntables that we added numbers to cause they didn’t have any way to tell how fast or slow you were going. Brooklyn was in the garage and found a few things that interested her.
The Realistic Mixer.

My Liquor Room. No, Just Kidding. It’s the Liquor from the supermarket down the street from Fatlace
Well, not really but I wouldn’t mind entertaining the idea. Last night the crew, not the whole crew, joined the 3rd annual Kingpin Bowling Tournament at the infamous Classic Bowling Alley. In the late 80’s - Early 90’s, this place was known for its notorious gang fights.. Ron, Kenny, Daniel, Leslie, Kenta & Lady, Brandon, Emily, Jessica, Robby, Brooklyn and Myself were there to take down last years champs, Team Pirate DJ’s (DJ Ivan’s Crew).
The Playground. We were staged on Lane 1. (note to self, pay earlier next year to get a primo spot.)
The Crew & The Mascot.
The Playground in all its gloriful colors.
Ron nailing some pins.
Brandon & Daniel Throwing Down..
John Ige & Benny Gold rolled through and knocked a few pins down.
Daniel assessing the pins.
Kenta showing his form.
I don’t think we won, even with all the pitchers of beers. (Each pitcher counted for 10 Points)
Woke up really early this morning cause Brooklyn wanted to go downstairs. I set her up with some food so I could play the wheel swap game. I decided to put the AMEs back on the S13 and put the Prodrives back on the S14. Looks like the 13 can use a kit now, don’t you think?
I took a trip to Beijing, China a few months ago for the Olympics. First time there so a group of us went to the Great Wall. I had my flip camera and decided to film the whole walk down. It took approximately 15 minutes to walk down the very uneven steps.
Note: In this video, you’ll see some familiar faces. Try to see if you can name a few.
I did some calculations in my head while taking my final flight of the year today and came to the conclusion I’m flying way too much. This year I was on an airplane 116 times. Whether it was NY, LA, Tokyo, China or my weekly commute, 100 times too many if you ask me. You know, when the airport security can have a conversation with you and know where you’re going to, it’s a little scary.
I woke up to snow once again.
Took a walk outside and the sidewalks were starting to get covered.
Had breakfast at Besaws across the street. It’s awesome.
